THE DEATH CARD (NEW!)
Released on 8/4/23, my acoustic folk song, The Death Card was inspired by tarot card readings. I kept pulling The Death Card repeatedly, which spooked me. To find solace, I penned this track.
The lyrics question beliefs, exploring the post-factual world where people reject science and even go so far as to embrace the oxymoronic so-called alternative facts. The song meditates on multiple modes of seeking understanding, including science, tarot cards, and astrology, while pondering the uncertainties of life and human existence.

I'm excited to announce the release of Firefly! It's based on a true story though it's not my own story.
The song's protagonist recalls summertime as a child & the joy of trapping fireflies in grandma's yard. But the child grows & makes many missteps that lead them to becoming trapped like all those fireflies.
Firefly features lush lyrical imagery woven into a soothing instrumental. I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making and sharing it with you!

The Way Back is a love song about two people separated from each other by life circumstances & the lengths they’ll go through to reunite. The lyrics evoke a psychedelic nursery rhyme, “You said you’d hang glide into the canyon, ride a ski lift over the sea, fight the alligators in Lake Conroe, to hold me tight, and whisper Sweet Pea.”
While The Way Back is a romantic love song, it's also about loving one's self & learning to fully enjoy one's own company. It's about aiming for emotional independence while still hoping to reconnect one day with that very special & longed for lover.

I want to share something personal that makes me feel vulnerable but I also want to reach beyond myself. COLD & DARK EMBRACE gives voice to something a lot of people have been affected by but might not feel comfortable talking about.
Difficult topics like these are often swept under the rug, as in the sex abuse scandal by USA Gymnastics team doctor. These experiences can have very painful and lasting impacts. Instead of just feeling helpless, in the most beautiful way possible, I turned my pain into beauty by creating COLD & DARK EMBRACE to express & share with the world what this difficult experience looks & feels like for me and how I cope.
I hope that everyone who has been affected by an experience like this & those who love them will feel less alone & also empowered by listening to my song, COLD & DARK EMBRACE. It feels liberating to share. Thank you for listening & supporting!

Solitary is a 6-song concept EP about longing. Written, recorded, & filmed during the global pandemic, it's Sarah's most intimate, relatable work to date.
Solitary explores themes of loneliness and solitude, the joy of home & togetherness, the comfort of loving another while separated, beautiful daydreams, the disorientation of losing a parent, & the struggle to heal.

Earthbound is a collection of 6 songs that take you from the deep ocean blue to way past Saturn’s moons to reflect on our human experience. From dating a “Digital Angel who fell from a pixel sky” & wondering if we’re all just stuck in a computer simulation to realizing that everything slips “Back to the Earth,” Earthbound is a wild, beautiful ride! Sarah wrote Earthbound as a means of survival through a series of devastating losses, including her beloved father & her long-term partner, & to express the exciting life-giving passion of a wonderful new relationship.

Sarah wrote "Do Not Call to Me, Despair" to honor Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, and all the lives lost to police violence and racism. The song aims to bring us together in a chorus of hopefulness and solidifies a commitment to fight to make Black lives matter in America.
All the proceeds for this song go to DIRECTLY TO The Anti Police-Terror Project, a social justice organization that actively counters police terror in communities of color through their innovative and humanistic programs and resources, such as Mental Health First, which provides a viable alternative to calling the police when we see community members who are experiencing mental health crises.
